CPGHA Permission to Skate and Player Release Policy

CPGHA Permission to Skate and Player Release Policy

Statement of Purpose

Player movement is not an easy issue and sometimes results in the wishes/rights of an individual argued against the desires/best interests of the team/association. Many factors come into all sides of the debate and there is no perfect solution.

General

A Permission to Skate and/or Release will not be issued to a player who has not fulfilled her financial obligations to the CPGHA or who has not returned all CPGHA equipment and jerseys.

Permission to Skate Eligibility

CPGHA - U7, U9, U11, U13

Any CPGHA (U7-U13) players wanting a 'Permission to Skate' form to tryout with another OWHA team will be issued for the AA level only, any other requests will be a release from CPGHA.

CPGHA - U15, U18

CPGHA will NOT issue a Permission to Skate form for any CPGHA (U15-U18) player wanting to try out for another OWHA competitive team, in which CPGHA has/planning on a team at that level. They must apply for a release.

A Permission to Skate for any CPGHA (U15-U18) for any other level that CPGHA does not offer, maybe approved for a PTS.

Request for Permission to Skate

Permission to Skate forms can be found at https://www.owha.on.ca/content/forms-and-policies under player eligibility. Please email your completed form to the CPGHA President. Please allow some time for processing.

The email must include the Permission to Skate form as well as the following information to be filled out on the PTS form:

  • Player’s name and current team with team #.
  • Player’s intention of tryout; level and dates of tryouts.

Requests must be submitted in this format only. Verbal requests will not be processed. Incomplete information will result in delays in processing your requests. Once completed, you will receive your completed form by email.

A separate PTS form is required for each OWHA association the individual wishes to tryout for, and is ONLY valid for tryouts at levels NOT offered by the CPGHA. (eg: Attending an “A” tryout at U15 with KGHA since CPGHA does not intend to field a team, but not making that team. The PTS form is NOT applicable for a subsequent “BB” tryout with KGHA if CPGHA is hosting at the “BB” level).

Request for Player Release

A Release can only be approved and completed by the CPGHA President.

A Release will be granted to a player wishing to try out or play for a team with another OWHA Association at a level that the CPGHA has a team.

A player who receives a Release will not be eligible to return to CPGHA during the season in which Release was granted. A player who has been released will now be considered an import player in the coming year.

If a player has been through the tryout process and has been named to a CPGHA team and requests a release, there will be a fine of $200 to those who have made the competitive(B/C) teams and a fine of $400 would be applied to those who have made one of the high-performance teams(BB/A/AA). This will need to be paid prior to any releases being accepted. These fines are not punitive in nature, but are a reflection of the financial burden on the CPGHA that such a decision would have after tryouts have closed.

Exceptions may be given at a case by case and reviewed by the president and the competitive or high-performance director.

Player release forms can be found at https://www.owha.on.ca/content/forms-and-policies under player eligibility. Please email your completed form to the CPGHA President.

The email must include the player release form as well as the following information:

  • Player’s name and current team with team #.
  • Player’s intention of tryout; level and dates of tryouts.

Requests must be submitted in this format only. Verbal requests will not be processed. Incomplete information will result in delays in processing your requests. Once completed, you will receive your completed form by email.
